Mouth injuries due to catching sticks

Injury to your dog's mouth from chewing or catching sticks is unfortunately quite common. Sometimes a piece of stick becomes wedged across the roof of the mouth between the upper teeth causing considerable distress. A prompt visit to the surgery will enable us to remove the stick and treat any damage.

Running with a stick or catching a stick can cause more serious damage to the back of the throat and neck sometimes starting under the tongue. These injuries can be very serious and require examination under sedation or anaesthesia immediately to avoid complications. Even with treatment long term problems can occur.

So with longer days and more play-time remember DO NOT THROW STICKS FOR YOUR DOG, use other softer and well designed products and have fun without the risk.
