There are inevitably times when pet owners need to leave their pets in someone else's care while they are away. There are many options available, including leaving your pet with trusted friends or family, or using a pet sitter, boarding kennel or cattery.
There are many excellent pet boarding businesses locally, and although we cannot recommend specific establishments, we have provided a list of businesses that we know and work with below.
Pet boarding businesses need a licence to operate, and should hold appropriate insurances. The following organisations have searchable databases of quality assured pet boarding establishments.
We suggest that you research the accommodation available and select the most appropriate provider for you and your pet's needs. You may want to ask other pet owners about their experiences using different providers, and you may wish to arrange a visit to see the accommodation for yourself. The Feline Advisory Bureau (FAB) and Pet Care Trust have searchable databases of quality assured catteries and kennels, and FAB provides advice on choosing the right cattery.
