I trained to become
a veterinary nurse at Myerscough College and qualified
as a listed veterinary nurse in 2000. I joined Highgate
Vets in 1996, having previously worked at a boarding
kennels and cattery and a livery.
My work includes looking after patients
in our hospital, monitoring anaesthetics during operations
and advising clients on post operative care. I am in
charge of the pharmacy which includes ordering medicines
and ensuring their correct storage. My work in our small
laboratory includes testing blood samples and examining
specimens under the microscope.
When I'm not at work my great passion
is rock climbing, I mostly climb in the Lakes and Kendal
Climbing Wall and have climbed in the Himalayas,
Spain, Sardinia and Turkey. I enjoy scuba diving and
have been lucky enough to dive in Thailand and Egypt.
I also enjoy walking my lurcher Alfie and
walking the fells with my friends.
Great North Swim
In 2008 I swam the Great
North Swim (1 mile in 15 deg C Lake Windermere)
in aid of the Noistar Thai Animal Rescue Foundation,
which supports the Koh
Tao Animal Clinic on the Island of Koh Tao in the
Gulf of Thailand. "Did I enjoy it? Absolutely
not! Will I do it next year? Absolutely! But this time
the boyfriend's being roped in too. Thanks to all the
sponsors and companies that helped me.
