On our 7 hour minibus journey from Nairobi to Marangu at the start of the trip we passed through tens upon tens of miles of parched barren landscape, skeletally thin cattle and donkeys, people just standing or sitting in the heat, waiting.

It is difficult to see how any of them, man or animals find any source of nutrition in this harsh , arid land. It made us realise just how vital are the efforts of Vetaid and countless other NGOs working with governments to help and change lives.
