Merry Christmas from all at Highgate Vets

We hope that your Christmas preparations are going well and that you are looking forward to spending a special time with your pets.  Please find our Winter newsletter here. It’s all about Christmas calamities, winter woes and frustrating fleas.

2016 has been a big year for us with our change of leadership from Nick to Liz, and further team changes, including welcoming Rachel, Clair, Michelle, Hannah and Kasia.  Their hard work and dedication to your pets is fantastic, just as it is from the rest of the team.

We thought that it would be nice to share some of our highlights of the year –

Tilly here became the new face of our dog vaccination certificates this year!   You will see her and lots more of our patients in our new practice leaflet, please ask for a copy if you’ve not seen one.

In April, Suzy, Catriona, Elizabeth, Vicky and Kim (L to R) all attended the British Small Animal Veterinary Association Congress in Birmingham.  Together, they attended 75 hours of lectures and further training and had a great time doing it.

We were awarded Cat Friendly Clinic Silver status for both clinics this Summer.  Thank you to Helen and our cat advocate, Kirsten for working so hard helping us to achieve this.

This is Spot who came for a post-operative check following serious illness and major surgery in July.  He’s included to represent all of our fantastic patients who respond to treatment and are a delight to care for.

In September, a stray kitten was brought to the surgery aged only 8 days.  As soon as Kim met her, she had her heart set on hand rearing her and including her as part of the family.  Now called Kiki, she’s thriving.

We have had lots of hedgehogs brought to us in need this year.  We are very fortunate to have Irene from Furness Hedgehog Rescue in Dalton that we can call on to help support them.

In December, Rachel and Caroline were very surprised to see a collapsed Eagle Owl called Oscar in the Saturday morning clinic.  The emergency treatment that they provided ensured that he rapidly recovered and came to visit a few days later, here he is with Caroline on that visit.

We hope that you and your pets have a happy and healthy Christmas and New Year.  Should you need us, our opening times for the festive season are here and as always, you can get through to the duty vet in an emergency on either of the clinics’ phone numbers – 01539 721344 or 01539 887988.

Thank you for your loyal support throughout the year.
